Acrobatic Ambitions (2025/100)

Image
Hmmm. 100th post of 2025 today, so we'll go back to one of our favourite subjects. Everyone admires acrobats for their flexibility, strength and balance. Well, those are the things that come from regular training, alongside - most important of all - commitment. If you are working with a partner, then we need to add in 'trust'. Trust that your partner is always prepared in case something doesn't quite right and you need to be caught or supported. It takes years of dedication to achieve some of the things you see in shows, circus or indeed in amateur acrobatic gymnastics clubs. Friendships made doing acro last for life. We should know. Here's a succession of things going well, and occasionally not so well. Above all, make it FUN.  That is from the top acrobatic gymnastics club in the UK - Spelthorne - part of their Christmas display from a few years ago. The art of the possible with good training. We go next to the USA to admire the current generation - one lad from S...

Getting The Balance Right (2024/237)

Image
Handstands, head balance, and other stuff with the weight entirely supported on the hands. All signs of intensive training and hard work building strength... and training of course, is what we love to do! Enjoy these successes (well, mainly successes - there are some rather odd body shapes to be seen!)... That's Christiano Rujano from Venuzuela, working professionally in Spain now, and seen in the next vid with his dad as supporter... ...and more in training... That one, inverse handstand from manna, is impressive... you would normally see a final jump to turn the hands around, but he didn't need it! ...and, to finish this post, a different kind of balance challenge!

A 'Men's Pair' and Other Handbalances (2023/96)

A bit of an unusual post this time - a lot of videos first of all featuring one particular pair of guys who look to be us to be heading towards world champion status before long in acrobatic gymnastics. These guys post a lot on Instagram and, although there is quite a lot of repetition of the same basic skill in these recent posts, there is much to be admired. Then some other handbalance stuff to make up the usual size of post. We start with one in which the 'base' combines revising for an exam with their training. Now some professionals in training and showing off... Now handbalancers working on their own... Two circus boys practising now: Christiano Rujano is from Venuzuela: More shots of Christiano - and father Sam - in performance:  Ilya Molotov is in Russia Others... We finish this post off with some more shots of Christiano and Sam... not handbalancing as such but definitely logical to include here! These are just some of the performers and amateur acrobatics lovers we fo...
